Agright Meriki Phase 2 Off-Grid Hybrid Energy Expansion
Expanding battery storage and integrating new equipment with Agright Meriki’s existing off-grid power system. Delivered by Green Generation in collaboration with Smart Commercial Energy.
Expanding Storage, Connecting Systems
Green Generation collaborated with Smart Commercial Solar to deliver Phase 2 of the Agright Merki off-grid hybrid energy project in New South Wales. The expansion introduced six Sungrow BESS units, integrated with the existing generation, storage and control systems to support coordinated energy management and continuity of supply.
Location: New South Wales
Project Partner: Smart Commercial Solar
Services Delivered: Design, fabrication, system integration and commissioning
Bringing Solar, Storage and Generators Together
The brief
Expand the site’s battery storage capability and coordinate the new equipment with the existing Phase 1 installation.
- 4.5 MWh Battery Energy Storage System
- 4 MW solar photovoltaic system
- 2 MW generator capacity
- Six Sungrow ST225kWh-110kW-2h BESS units
What We Did
Green Generation designed, fabricated, integrated and commissioned the expansion, including the controls and communications needed to connect both installations.
- Integrated new BESS units with existing systems
- Established communication between hybrid panels approximately 1.2 km apart
- Implemented Twin Link wireless transmitter and receiver modules where fibre-optic installation presented challenges
The Result
A successfully commissioned expansion that enables coordinated operation across the existing and new battery storage systems.
- Expanded site energy storage capability
- Coordinated battery charging and discharging
- Improved use of available solar energy
- Strengthened system resilience
Coordinated Storage for Changing Energy Demand
Solar generation supplies the site load and charges the main BESS. Once the main battery reaches its target state of charge, a remote analogue signal directs surplus solar energy to the additional BESS units.
As solar output falls and the main battery’s state of charge declines, the new battery units discharge to support site demand. This coordinated operation allows both storage systems to respond to available solar generation and changing operating conditions.
OUTCOME
Expanded Storage with Coordinated System Control
Phase 2 expanded Agright Merki’s energy storage capability and connected the two installations for coordinated operation. The completed project strengthens system resilience and improves the use of available solar energy, demonstrating Green Generation’s expertise in off-grid hybrid system expansion and integration.
