Integrating Plant Controls and Network Communications
The brief
Deliver SCADA and hybrid control panels to connect the solar farm’s generation equipment, high-voltage infrastructure and network communications.
- 3.125 MW solar farm
- One Sungrow SG3400HV-MV inverter
- 0.6 kV low-voltage / 11 kV medium-voltage infrastructure
What We Did
Green Generation designed, fabricated and commissioned the control panels, integrating plant equipment and communications into the SCADA platform.
- Integrated solar PV and high-voltage systems
- Implemented DNP3 communications between the Sungrow inverter, SCADA system and Powerco
- Configured secure remote access for monitoring, diagnostics, data sharing and troubleshooting
The Result
A completed system providing centralised visibility and control of the solar farm’s PV and high-voltage infrastructure.
- Integrated plant monitoring and control
- Real-time generation communications with Powerco
- Remote diagnostics and operational support
Integrated Equipment for Control, Communications and Protection
The control system combines a ComAp IM1010 with Extended PLC and Modbus Client functionality, an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5380 PLC, and an 18.5-inch Windows-based industrial touchscreen.
Supporting equipment includes:
- Moxa MGate 5109-T for DNP3 communications
- SEL-751 relay for neutral voltage displacement (NVD) protection
- WeidmĂĽller UPS system
- 600 W inverter converting 24 V DC to 240 V AC
Centralised Control with Network and Remote Connectivity
The completed system provides centralised monitoring and control of the solar farm’s PV and high-voltage infrastructure. Network communications and remote diagnostic capabilities support ongoing plant operation.
Delivered in collaboration with Smart Commercial Energy, the project demonstrates Green Generation’s expertise in utility-scale solar controls, SCADA engineering and DNP3 integration.
